Do Astronauts Drink Urine In Space?

NASA became committed to water conservation in 2009 and introduced the Water Recovery System to the International Space Station. However, the name of the system could have been more creative, such as the "Precycling Internal Solution System" to form the acronym P.I.S.S. This is the current name being used. As a result, astronauts have been consuming purified urine from the system, or "peecycled" water. There may be occasional mishaps or other personal activities, but these are not disclosed.

Why do astronauts drink urine in space?

All of the water present on the International Space Station has been transported from Earth. The expense of sending one kilogram into orbit can exceed $10,000. Performing a quick calculation reveals that the cost of a single kilogram of water in space is nearly equivalent to the value of a kilogram of yellow gold on Earth.
