There is no shortage of films that are set in space, almost all science fiction films are set away from Earth. When it comes to specific planets though, some get more big-screen love than others. Mars for instance has lots of films set there, but Jupiter? Not so much.
Venus has quite the selection though, and while many of them are too terrible to even contemplate, there are exceptions. Here are our top 10, in no particular order.
The infamous 3 Stooges are working as cleaners at a spaceport when, as only they can, accidentally take off on a spacecraft and arrive on Venus. On their unlikely (or perhaps likely, for them) they encounter a fire breathing tarantula, a chatty unicorn and a computer that creates evil clones of the boys.

American astronauts find themselves on the planet Venus after their ship is attacked en route to a space station orbiting Earth. Regaining consciousness after the attack, they find the planet inhabited by beautiful women and ruled by their power-mad Queen.

Dr Keith Ritchie has been in contact with a being from Venus, who he believes is heading to Earth to help humanity. However, when the alien does arrive, via a fallen laser satellite, it quickly becomes clear that Zontar has plans of his own.

An odd one, the Doomsday Machine started production in 1967 but wasn't completed until 1972, and without the original cast. The Chinese government has developed a doomsday device that is capable of destroying the Earth. The crew of the spaceship Astra are headed to Venus to continue the human race, should the device be activated.
Bobby Van stars as ‘Danny’.
Astronauts have landed on Venus and come into contact with dangerous creatures and beautiful Venusian women. During their landing efforts, however, the ship carrying these astronauts is attacked by a winged lizard. Not realising this creature is worshipped by the Venusians, they kill it – inviting the wrath of the planet's inhabitants.

On its way home, the first United States spacecraft to visit Venus crash-lands off the coast of Sicily. A highly dangerous and lizard-like creature has hitched a ride onboard, all the way from Venus. On Earth, it quickly grows to huge proportions.

On Venus, the rain falls almost constantly. Young children, while in school, become excited to learn that the rain will finally stop that day, even if for just one hour. There is one child thought that they have become resentful of because they still remember how it feels to see the sun.

After an unexpected trip to Mars, the crew of MR4 receive a distress call from Captain Wilson – a US astronaut. Changing course to conduct a rescue from space, the crew spies a settlement on the surface. Editing the message, Mission Commander Harcourt Brown tricks the crew into landing on the planet so he can investigate.

An Earth-based spacecraft heads to and lands on the planet Venus. After disembarking their craft, the crew soon to suspect that the race of beings that they encounter may be descendants of the people of Atlantis.
